COLOMBIA 2020

This was such a sweet experience. And even sweeter due to what we came home to, days after returning from our trip my state enacted a stay at home order to to Covid-19.

First was the epic location. The Sierra Nevada de Colombia are the highest mountains closest to the ocean any where in the world. So high you could see snow on the peaks even though the tempurature was around 85 °. The jungle was wild and lush with monkeys, toucans and lizards. The Caribbean ocean was the bluest color that sang to us constantly with its waves. Our beach was a seemingly endless stretch of white sand with a scattering of other small hotels. The property we stayed at was serene and intimate. We all felt immediately at home. Our yoga shala faced the ocean, the air, the sounds, the sights all lending to our experience of healing, polishing off and exploring deeply.

Next was the unbelievable food. Honestly the best food I’ve had anywhere, EVER.

Lastly was the people and puppies. The resident dogs kept laughing at every turn, and inspired us with their joie de vivre. The staff at our hotel went above and beyond. We all felt so cared for by their kind and thoughtful service. We were fortunate to also meet some of the Kogui and Wiwa people, indigenous groups in the area. Seeing and learning their way of life and ideology was a profound experience that had us all reflecting and discussing our own beliefs and social structures. And our group itself was a unique mix of people that truly connected with beautiful conversations of depth and laughter. So much joy and so much fun.
